Component
Alert Dialog
A blocking confirmation for a destructive choice - the WAI-ARIA alertdialog pattern. Use Modal for anything the user may simply dismiss; this one demands an explicit answer.
Basic
A named consequence
Say what will be lost, not just that it cannot be undone. The confirming button repeats the verb rather than saying OK.
- Escape and an outside press do not close it - that is the point of the pattern, and why it is the wrong choice for anything non-destructive
- Initial focus lands on the first control in the footer, so the safe option is reachable without moving the pointer
